Injury lawyers settle work accident claim for £100,000
Injury lawyers have helped a woman settle a compensation claim for £100,000 following an accident at work.
The woman had been carrying out a routine maintenance operation on a machine when she suffered from severe personal injuries to her fingers after it started automatically.
She had been cleaning around the blade area of the machine, which required her to reach into the back of the machine to reach the area.
However, the machine, which had new automatic start-up modification added to it, started leaving her with several injuries to her fingers.
After being rushed to hospital, one of her fingers was amputated and was unable to return to her position at work.
She claimed that she had received no training on after it had been modified with guards and an automatic start up.
Following an investigation by the Factory Inspector, the employer was liable for the woman’s injuries as a guard was missing from the machine.
Lawyers stated that the firm was negligent in failing to ensure the machine was suitable for the purpose in which it was used for.
It was also stated that the firm had failed to provide correct guards for the machine.
She received £100,000 in compensation as a result of her injuries.
