Injury lawyer helps fight case
An injury lawyer will be taking on a lawsuit of a teenager who suffered severe personal injuries after a fall in the park.
The 15 year old and her friend had been trying to climb the 4ft railings after they were locked in a Newport based park which closed at 8pm.
According to the teenagers, they were unaware that the park had a closing time.
However, as the two attempted to climb the railings, the young girl slipped and fell onto a spike which dug six inches into her stomach.
She was then hospitalised after suffering from severe abdominal pains.
The girl’s mother has now decided to file a personal injury claim seeking around £15,000 in compensation from the county council, as according to their lawyer the council is negligent for the injury as it failed to appropriately display the park’s closing times.
The girl’s mother said: "There was no outside bleeding but doctors were concerned about what internal damage it had caused.”
She had been told by hospital staff that had the spike continued a quarter of an inch further, her daughter would have bled to death.
“Surgeons told us she was the luckiest girl they'd ever seen, that she must have a guardian angel," she added.
