Woman left paralysed after crash

A woman has been awarded with a $45 million payout after receiving personal injuries following a car accident, it has been revealed.

Tricia Roth, 41 was left paralysed from the neck down when her vehicle was struck by a Chevy pickup truck in California in 2006.

The San Mateo County Superior Court heard that the driver of the truck, Roman Pantoja, 72, had jumped a red light before colliding with Roth’s car.

Roth is now unable to care for herself and is left in a wheelchair after the accident left her paralysed from her neck down.

She is also unable to work at her $290,790 per year job.

Her personal injury lawyer, Mary Alexander said: “She will never be able to return to work…her life expectancy is reduced.”

She told the court that Roth and her husband, Kay Huh, will also be unable to take part in a number of activities.

She stated that they “had been very active, swimming, horse back riding. A particular interest that she and her husband, Kay Huh, had was ballroom dancing. They were very good at it…it was very important to them, one of their activities that they enjoyed together.”

As a result, Roth has won $45 million in compensation for her damages.
