Brits expect less from their compensation claims

More Brits are modest when it comes to
claiming compensation after being injured at work, new research has revealed.
According to a survey conducted by YouGov, more Brits expect far less from their compensation claims following an injury at work.
The survey revealed that nearly a half of the 1,970 adults who participated expect £5,000 or less compensation after breaking a leg at work.
Figures from Lawtel, a legal information service however, states that the typical compensation for a broken leg at work is around £8,650 and £2,900 for the loss of wages.
The research also found that just over a half of those surveyed expect less than the typical amount of compensation given for fracturing an arm at work.
Figures revealed that 61 per cent of the participants believe that compensation for a fracturing an arm at work would be under £5,000.
According to figures from Lawtel, the usual compensation payment for a fracturing an arm at work is £6,000, which includes an additional £2,000 for the loss of earnings.
Managing partner, Charlotte Pegman of personal injury lawyers Hubbard Pegman and Whitney said: “While large compensation awards for seemingly minor injuries and slights rightly attract hostile media attention, the reality is that awards for most workplace injuries – often nasty ones – are generally much more modest.”
