Miners may receive compensation for knee condition

MP’s have agreed to meet to discuss whether a condition known as miner’s knee will qualify for a compensation scheme. Miner’s Knee is a chronic knee condition caused by working in underground mines. If the condition is classed as an industrial disease then miners who contracted the condition while at work will be able to make a claim for compensation.

This will be good news for both the miners and the injury lawyers who will be handling the cases. It is estimated that during compensation scheme for miners who suffered from lung disease and /or a serious hand condition injury lawyers made 1.3 billion pounds handling the cases.

There have been calls on the government to run the compensation scheme itself, if it is to go ahead, in order to reduce the amount of money paid out to the legal professional. As of yet a decision has yet to be made on the matter.
