Road accident victim in bid to win compensation
It has been revealed that a Watford man is fighting for a £300,000 compensation claim amount, six years after the accident.
The victim, 43, was still on crutches three years after the incident due to a shattered leg he suffered in a road accident.
The man was knocked from his scooter by a car driven by an employee of a supermarket chain in Denham Green.
The victim is suing the company for loss of earnings and the “pain and suffering” caused by the accident.
He spent 49 days in hospital with a compound fracture of his left leg and by the time he was released, he had lost his rented home and was temporarily forced into a hostel – an arrangement his lawyer claimed caused “a major depressive disorder”.
The company has admitted liability for the collision, but disputes the amount of the compenastion claim, particularly his lost earnings calculations.
Defence lawyers also state the victim "failed to look after himself properly" in the wake of the crash.
The trial continues...
