Compensation claim for dog attack

A man has been awarded a payout of £250 in a compensation claim after he sustained personal injury when bitten by a dangerous dog.

The victim was a political party member and was canvassing in Norwich ahead of last years local elections, when the dog attack incident took place.

After he went to the house of a 41-year-old resident for canvassing, the man was bitten by his pet dog.

The court heard that the two men were in the middle of a ‘heated’ political discussion when the dog attacked. The party member required hospital treatment for his wounds.

It was reported in the court that the dog had previously bit two other people in separate incidents. The dog in question has since been ordered to be put down.

The dog owner has been banned from keeping dogs for a five year period and given a 12 month conditional discharge.
