Elderly lady rejects compensation settlement
An Elderly lady has rejected a £1,200 settlement from her pharmacy after she made a compensation claim when she was given the wrong eye drops which made her temporarily blind.
She is currently waiting to see if she can claim what she believes to be a fairer amount of compensation. The 81-year-old was blinded overnight after the blunder by the ASDA pharmacy, which was repeated just months later.
The elderly ladies grand-daughter, said: "She has gone from a really happy lady who used to go to Derby on the bus and to friends houses to one who is now taking antidepressants and has been in and out of hospital."
She continued to say that since the first mix-up, her grand-mother had suffered from blurred vision and dizziness and was terrified of leaving her home.
She is still waiting on response from ASDA but commenting on the amount of compensation she said "If she is awarded more money, I don't know what she would do with it"
