MoD to double injured soldiers' compensation

The maximum amount to be paid to injured British soldiers in
accident compensation is to be doubled, the Ministry of Defence has announced.
The MoD, which has been criticised for not doing much to help injured soldiers, is raising the limit from £285 to £570,000, reports said yesterday.
This move will bring the amount of compensation received by members of the UK Armed Forces closer in line with the amounts awarded by the courts for personal injury claims to civilians.
The payments will work retroactively and an advantage to members of the British Armed Forces that have been awarded compensation through the scheme.
Meanwhile a military accident compensation claims specialist has welcomed the scheme, praising the Ministry of Defence.
The Armed Forces Compensation Scheme pays a lump sum to wounded soldiers based on the seriousness of their injuries, in addition it pays a monthly amount to the most severely injured soldiers.
