Beauty firm loses compensation battle

A woman who worked at a beauty firm who alleged that pictures of barely dressed women resulted in her being sexually discriminated against has lost her battle for a successful
compensation claim.
Sue Dale, a packer at Sally’s Hair and Beauty Supplies in Blackburn claimed that bosses failed to acknowledge her complaints about half naked female pictures displayed in the Daily Sport and Daily Star newspapers. The tribunal heard that the pictures however, were put up in the warehouse.
Therefore, a tribunal panel rejected her claim for sexual discrimination. They heard how the company staged a string of appeals and grievance hearings leading up to her dismissal. Mrs Dale was also criticised for only making a complaint two years later.
Employment Judge Tyrell stated: “The tribunal did not find the witness (Dale) persuasive or compelling.”
