Ambulance in emergency after crash
Three people received personal injury after they collided with an ambulance.
The car accident occurred when the 999 vehicle hit a motor which had overturned at some traffic lights. It then hit another car.
Two people who were sitting in the stationary car and were then hit, suffered from minor wounds, but a 70-year woman who was in the overturned vehicle had to be cut out. Another ambulance was sent to the first 999.
The crash happened at around 1840 at the junction of Caerphilly Road and Ty Wern Road in Birchgrove.
The Welsh Ambulance Service and the South Wales Police have launched an inquiry into what happened. All three accident claim victims were taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, to be treated.
A 20-year-old man, who was in a Vauxhall Corsa – the other car involved – suffered from whiplash.
