Victim of car accident awarded £39,840
A UK woman holidaying in Malta was awarded damages of £39,840 in a car accident claim, for the personal injury she suffered in the crash.
The compensation claim was launched by the woman against two separate drivers, both from Malta.
According to her injury lawyers, she was travelling along a road when she was forced to stop because of bad traffic.
As she brought her vehicle to a halt, a vehicle driven by one of the accused smashed into the rear of the victim's car and threw her forward against the windscreen.
Just a few seconds later, a second collision occurred when a car, driven by the second accused, crashed into the first accused car which was once again forced into the victim's vehicle. She was thrown forward into the windscreen for a second time.
Her injury lawyers said the first impact was more forceful than the second one. The judge said he was satisfied that the victim's evidence was truthful.
He added that he has taken into consideration that the woman had suffered a 12 per cent permanent disability and therefore she should receive £39,840 in compensation.
One of the accused was found to be 80% liable for the incident and and the other was found 80% liable for the car accident.
