Teenager paralysed in car accident sues for £300,000
A teenager is making a car accident claim for £300,000 against the driver who left him paralysed from the waist down.
The boy is filing an unlimited compensation claim from the driver in Benington, who shattered his life in the crash.
According to the writ issued at London’s High Court, the 19 year old was seated in the back of the offender's vehicle when the accident happened.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and left the road, colliding with a tree, and coming to a halt in a ditch.
After the accident, the youngster was trapped in the wreckage of the car for over one hour.
He suffered serious personal injury to the chest and he required a chest drain fit into him before being taken to hospital.
He suffered spinal cord damage in his neck and is now paralysed from the waist down. He had to spend eight months in hospital.
According to the writ, injury lawyers representing the driver admitted their client was fully liable for the accident.
However, both sides have reached a roadblock over how much compensation the teenager should be awarded.
The amount of compensation sought is not mentioned but injury lawyers for the teenager have estimated a successful claim would be worth at least £300,000.
