Two teenagers dead and third critical after car accident

Two teenagers have died and another has been seriously injured after a head-on collision involving two cars on a rural road, police said today.

The car accident happened near Jamestown Farm not far from Maidens in South Ayrshire, at around 8.40pm yesterday.

A mother and her two daughters have been also taken to hospital.

Police believe that a Vauxhall Corsa travelling south on the A719 lost control, crossed the centre line and struck an on-coming Skoda Fabia.

An 18 year-old, believed as the driver of the Corsa, died at the scene while his front seat passenger, also an 18-year-old man, died later in Ayr Hospital.

A 44-year-old woman, who was in the front seat of the other car, was taken to hospital and kept in for observation.

Her daughters and the 46-year-old woman driving the Skoda were unhurt.

The police said they have been searching for any witnesses of the accident and that a report will be prepared for the procurator fiscal.

It is unknown if any compensation claims will be filed.
