Man wins accident claim for his financial stability.

A man who was left badly brain damaged after being knocked from his moped in a road traffic accident has made a successful compensation claim.

The man was awarded the settlement package at the High Court in London last week, when the insurance company of the driver at fault was ordered to pay up.

Making an accident claim in the UK involves no fees to the person who has received the accident injury, as all legal costs are be paid by the third party should the compensation claim be successful.

The incident happened during the summer of 2005. The claimant was driving his moped along Well Hall Road in Eltham, when a car smashed into him. He suffered serious head personal injury after being flung from the vehicle.

The extent of his injuries meant he was forced to remain in hospital for six months. He now has issues with his cognitive abilities and his mobility is limited. His wife provides full-time care for her husband as he is unable to leave the house by himself.

The father of three can no longer work to support his family. As a result, he filed a claim against the insurers of the car to provide financial stability for him and his family.

After a long wait, he was finally awarded £1.4 million. The amount was based on several factors, including the severity of his injuries, the loss of future earnings and the cost for his future care and support.

The victim’s wife and children were also awarded small compensation payouts by the court due to the care they have given.

Motorcycle accident

In similar news, a man has also won his accident claim, after a bike accident left him with a devastating brain injury.

The crash, which took place on the Isle of Man, meant the victim had to spend several months in rehabilitation units across the UK. During this period his wife supported him vigorously, even resigning from her job to care for him full time.

The family’s lawyers made a successful interim payment, which was fought by the defendant’s insurer, and also undertook a full costing exercise on purchasing and equipping suitable accommodation and recruiting carers ready for his return home.

Four years after the accident, the man finally received a compensation settlement of £5.4million.
