Swindon man gets £2.3 million in accident claims

A man from Swindon has won a seven-figure personal injury case for a car accident claim.

The 22-year-old man had been driving to his place of work three years ago, when he was involved in a collision on the A361 near Devizes.

As a result of the head-on collision the man suffered a serious brain injury. Despite his doctors telling him he would probably never walk again, the man managed to walk into his compensation hearing at London's High Court.

The judge hearing the case commented, "I am satisfied that the proposed terms represent a fair and fortunate compromise that is in his best interests and, accordingly, I have no hesitation in approving the proposed settlement."

He has now made a remarkable recovery but he will require constant care for the rest of his life and his injury lawyers told the court that any future prospects had been significantly diminished.

After the successful accident claim, his lawyer commented, "Prior to his accident, [the claimant] was a bright and determined young man, who had the whole of his life ahead of him."

The judge awarded the man a settlement of £2.3 million, plus yearly index-linked payments of £145,000.
