Personal injury lawyers warns homeowners of dangers

It has been revealed that personal injury lawyers have issued a warning to homeowners about the hidden dangers in their properties.

One solicitor pointed out that 4000 people died each year as a result of personal injury caused by accidents in the home.

The Health and Leisure Accidents database held by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, displays that there is huge variation in the causes of such accident claims.

Some examples include 902 accidents involving coat hangers, 472 injuries linking to hairdryers and 2,604 accidents related to oil in frying pans.

Michael Jefferies stated: “Around 2.7 million people end up in Accident and Emergency every year as a result of accidents in the home. More alarmingly, an estimated 4000 people die as a result of such an accident.”

He furthered: “While some accidents are undoubtedly down to our own carelessness, a number of accidents that occur in homes around the country each year relate to faulty products or shoddy workmanship on areas of the house.

“Nobody who has been injured by a faulty product should ever be accused of clumsiness, irrespective of whether the accident happened in their own house or otherwise.”Updated on 02/03/2010
