Postman wins accident claim
It has been revealed that a 52-year-old postman has won his right to accident claim compensation.
The compensation claim was filed after he trapped his finger in a letterbox.
He has subsequently won £3,000 in his personal injury claim. He filed the case against the home holder after complaining that the injury stopped him from playing darts.
The worker said the cut meant he could not compete for cash prizes in local tournaments. The incident occurred when the letterbox snapped shut on the middle finger of his right hand.
He was treated in accident-and-emergency department and then hired the services of a no win no fee lawyer, to make the claim.
The postman said that the box was dangerous because it incorporated a home-made draught-excluder. He stated that the cut to the finger on his dart-throwing hand was so painful that he had to have time off work for six weeks.
He commented: “The cut was deep and pouring with blood. I had three stitches [...] I had the choice of asking Royal Mail to deal with the matter or making a private claim.”
