Former Yeovil Town Footballer Claims Over Career-Ending Traffic Accident
A former hard-tackling Yeovil Town midfielder has launched his bid for accident claim compensation, after being forced to retire last week due to a serious personal injury he suffered in a car accident.
The accident happened in December 2008, on the Cartgate link road on the outskirts of Yeovil. The footballer was a passenger in a van being driven by a Yeovil Town stadium technician when it collided with another vehicle.
He has now taken up a coaching role at Yeovil Town and revealed that he plans to take a legal action against the other driver involved in the accident, in a bid to win accident claim compensation.
Paul Mulderrig, injury lawyer for the claimant, said: “[He] has started court proceedings against the other driver. At the moment there’s a dispute about who was responsible for the accident.”
Mr Mulderrig said no criminal charges had been brought as a result of the accident, and it could take up to 12 months before any case was heard before the civil courts.
The footballer who made over 270 appearances for Yeovil Town, suffered several serious injuries in the accident, including breaks to his arm, leg and hip. At one point it was 50/50 whether or not he would survive.
The 30-year-old was forced to undergo nine operations to repair the damage to his body.
