R&B singer settles accident claims lawsuit
A popular R&B singer has avoided a civil trial over a fatal car crash by settling with the last remaining plaintiff in the case.
A mother of two died after her car collided with the singer's Range Rover in December 2006.
The singer was successful in avoiding criminal charges after a police investigation that went on for over a year and was widely publicised due to the popularity of the singer, denied her any liability.
However, the singing sensation was sued by the dead woman's widower, their two kids, and another survivor from the crash - who suffered facial injuries in the collision.
The dead woman's widower was the last remaining plaintiff in the case after the singer settled the other suits in July.
She agreed to pay the deceased woman's two children £200,000 each, while the other crash survivor settled for an undisclosed accident claims amount.
The widower rejected his part of a £800,000 settlement back in February. The terms of his settlement with the star have not been disclosed.
