Man gets £350,000 in accident claim
A man whose leg was crushed by a delivery lorry that ran over him twice has received £350,000 in compensation.
The 46-year-old man was left disabled by the horrific accident on Christmas Eve 2007.
The Wolverhampton man was working as a drayman when the accident happened.
He was helping a colleague to deliver beer to a pub but the lorry was too big to turn in the car park. The client asked the manager of the pub to move his car.
As he was walking around to the front of the lorry his colleague, who was driving, didn’t see him and knocked him over.
The lorry ran over his left leg and then reversed back over it before his colleague realised what had happened.
Following his accident he contacted his union which instructed injury lawyers to pursue an accident claim.
His employer denied liability for the accident, but settled the accident claim out of court.
The wounded man, also a martial arts instructor, said: "The accident was absolutely terrifying. I just didn’t know when the lorry was going to stop. It has changed my life dramatically. At the moment I can’t work and can no longer take part in my hobbies including martial arts. I have learnt to cope as best I can and just get on with things."
