Injured biker launches £250k accident claims

A man who was severely injured in a car accident has launched a High Court accident claims case for £250,000 compensation.

The 62 year old motorcyclist from Benfleet is claiming damages from a driver after the accident on the A13 near Canning Town in 2006.

The electrician was riding his bike when the car drove into his lane from the left and crashed into his motorcycle, say his injury lawyers who also estimate he could be entitled to £250,000.

The biker's left shoulder as well as his hip, groin and hamstring were seriously injured. Till this day he has problems with his shoulder despite two surgeries.

He will probably never be able to work again, as his trade as an electrician involves lifting and working above head height, which puts him at a significant disadvantage.

The man claims the car driver failed to heed the motorcycle or indicate, failed to keep a thorough lookout, and collided with the motorcycle.

Insurers for the car driver have admitted liability for the crash, the writ says.

Although the writ does not claim a specific sum, it indicates that lawyers value the claim, if successful as being worth up to £250,000.
