Worker makes accident claim for Wembley mishap
A construction worker who was part of the team building the new Wembley stadium has won compensation after making an accident claim.
The man was injured while on the site of the new stadium in 2005 after he was hit in the eye with a piece of galvanised iron.
The 35-year-old steel erector made the following comments regarding the accident, he said: "I should have been supplied with the correct goggles.
I've learnt to live with the end result of this accident and I don't let it affect my life, but I hate to think how I would have coped if I had lost my sight."
He now suffers from blurred vision as a result of the accident and was awarded £6,500 in compensation. His lawyer said that he "should have been provided with safety glasses" which would provide his eyes with protection from all angles.
His employer's negligence means he has been left with long term problems with his eye, something which could easily have been avoided with the correct equipment."
