Man receives £15,000 after falling down steps
A man has received £15,000 in compensation after suffering from personal injuries from an accident at work, it has been revealed.
In January 2006, a city welder, Brian Corish, 47, had fractured his arm after he fell from steel steps at a recycling firm in Plymouth.
However, he had been told the extent of the accident after he was taken to Derriford Hospital.
The injury was so bad that Corish required surgery to place a metal plate in his right arm.
As a result, he had been able to work for over two months and was permanently scarred.
Corish had also been told that he may need to undergo further surgery in the future.
The self employed worker from Bridgend, filed an accident claim against the Engineering Services- to which he was subcontracted to, and the European Metal Recycling’s Plymouth site, where he was also subcontracted to at the time of the accident.
However, the defendant’s denied liability for Corish’s personal injuries. Yet with the help of injury lawyers, the firms had agreed to award Corish a total of £15,000 in compensation through an out of court settlement.
