Boy left with brain damage to launch bid for damages

A boy who was left brain damaged after a freak accident on a bouncy castle has launched a High Court bid for
compensation. Sam Harris, who was 11 years old at the time of the incident in 2005, received a kick to the left side of the head from an older, taller 15 year old whilst they were performing somersaults on the inflatable.
Susan Rodway QC, told the High Court that Sam had suffered a depressed skull fracture which had led to a ‘very serious and traumatic brain injury’. The accident occurred at a party organised by Catherine and Timothy Perry who had hired the bouncy castle to celebrate their triplets 10th birthdays. Sam’s mother Janet Harris, who is bringing the case on behalf of her son, claims that Mr and Mrs Perry are to blame for the incident.
Miss Rodway QC, said, “Mrs Perry was the only adult and she was the person who should have been watching the bouncy castle at all times as the very nature of equipment of that sort tends to encourage boisterous behaviour.
