Personal injury claims cause rise in car insurance costs

The price of car insurance has risen due to the number of
personal injury claims being made.
The rising cost of claims has caused
insurance premiums to rise, according to a spokesman for the Association of British Insurers. Malcolm Tarling has said that the costs to insurers created by personal injury claims being made means that insurance premiums for all drivers are on the rise. He also added that uninsured road users are adding to drivers' costs as they too have an effect on the premiums charged.
Sainsbury's bank has released figures showed that on average car insurance premiums rose by 5.8% in the year starting July 2007. Other statistics from the AA British Insurance Premium Index revealed how young drivers are the worst affected by the rise in premiums. As the group most likely to make a claim, the average premium for a young driver is now reportedly £884, £45 higher than figures from March 2007.
